The Current Transformer ( TA ) or Current Transformer ( CT "Current Transformer") is a device necessary for the correct functioning of a photovoltaic system ; essential for the protection and measurement of the alternating current of the electrical circuit up to 200A .
V-TAC SKU 11506 is a Toroidal Current Transformer and thanks to its isolation of the current sensing circuit from the power circuit it prevents short circuits and ensures operator safety . The signal produced by the CT activates the protection devices in case of overloads or faults in the electrical system.
The ring (the toroidal CT) is positioned on the phase (L) connected between the inverter (master) and the grid, in order to detect the alternating current produced by the photovoltaic system. In a three-phase electrical system, 3 CTs will be needed , one for each phase.
The signal produced by the toroid is transmitted via 2 signal cables to be connected to the photovoltaic inverter in the relevant inputs, as per the instruction manuals. The signal is used by the inverter to control the production of electrical energy. The CT is highly precise in measuring the current
